Today, at our office in Pemba, Cabo Delgado, we received a courtesy visit from the Senior Human Rights Advisor at the United Nations (UN), Ana Mesquita and the UN Representative in Cabo Delgado, Manuela Cruz.

Today, at the RMDDH offices in Maputo, we received the Human Rights Defender and Leader of the Inclusive Energy Transition Process in Cabo Delgado, mom Marta Licuco.

The Mozambique Human Rights Defenders Network (RMDDH), the Center for Democracy and Development (CDD) and the Faculty of Management, Tourism and Informatics of the Catholic University of Mozambique (FGTI - UCM) met yesterday, April 26, 2022, in the room of the FGTI's Director, Professor Bianca Gerente, in order to discuss collaboration areas for the strengthening and resilience of Human Rights Defenders in Cabo Delgado.

The three organizations agreed to strengthen relations of cooperation within the activities that each develops, including the exchange of information and knowledge and experience sharing.

SECOND DAY OF TRAINING IN “HUMAN RIGHTS AND CIVIC SPACE”, IN THE CITY OF PEMBA, CABO DELGADO

No âmbito da sua missão de fortalecer as capacidades e resiliência dos Defensores de Direitos Humanos, a Rede Moçambicana dos Defensores de Direitos Humanos (RMDH), em parceria com o Escritório do Alto Comissariado das Nações Unidas para os Direitos Humanos (ACNUDH/OHCHR) em Moçambique realizam hoje e amanhã, 12 e 13 de Abril, um treinamento em “Direitos Humanos e Espaço Cívico”, na Cidade de Pemba, Cabo Delgado.
O treinamento tem como objectivo dotar os Defensores de Direitos Humanos de conhecimentos sobre mecanismos e ferramentas para a sua procteção e promoção do espaço cívico em Moçambique.

The Mozambique Human Rights Defenders Network (RMDDH) participated in a meeting with the Embassy of Sweden on Tuesday, 29 March, in response to the invitation made by this entity.

The meeting was attended by Ferosa Zacarias, Steering Committee Member of RMDDH and Sheila Nhancale, Coordinator of RMDDH, as well as two officials working in the area of Governance and Human Rights and the Head of Cooperation of the Embassy of Sweden.

A Rede Moçambicana de Defensores dos Direitos Humanos (RMDDH) é uma iniciativa da sociedade civil moçambicana que tem como objectivo fortalecer a capacidade e a resiliência dos defensores dos direitos humanos, bem como melhorar a sua protecção e segurança no âmbito da sua missão de defender a dignidade humana, lutar contra injustiças e impedir o fechamento do espaço cívico.

Mission

Garantir a defesa dos direitos Humanos e defender os defensores dos direitos Humanos, presntando apoio jurídico em caso de violação dos seus direitos, sobre tudo, os mais vuneráveis.

Advocar pela abertura do espaço cívico e aplicação correcta da leis em defesa dos defensores dos direitos Humanos.

Vision

Almejámos um país livre e seguro para os defensores dos Direitos Humanos, um ambiente favorável para o desenvolvimento das comnunidades e engajamento da Juventude como potencias Defensores dos Direitos Humanos.

Who Are Human Rights Defenders?

Que tem por objecto e/ou objectivos determinados em estatuto próprio um ou mais direitos humanos e de facto promoverem ou defenderem esses direitos na prática.
Defender questões essenciais aos direitos humanos como Democracia, Estado de Direito e Desenvolvimento.
Que sejam de facto apartidárias e que não se dedicam a fins meramente políticos. e, Estar no activo.

2021 SOUTHERN DEFENDERS SUMMIT

The Southern Africa Human Rights Defenders Network (Southern Defenders), in partnership with the Mozambique Human Rights Defenders Network (RMDDH), Advancing Human Rights in Southern Africa (ARISA), the Regional Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR – ROSA) and Amnesty International, are organizing, on 2 and 3 December, the Summit of Human Rights Defenders 2021, at the Joaquim Chissano International Conference Centre, in Maputo City.

The regional summit will bring together human rights defenders and civil society organisations from Southern Africa to assess the gains made and the risks and challenges faced by human rights defenders as civic space closes in the region. The delegates to the Summit will discuss creative ways of building regional solidarity, with the aim of defending civic space and protecting the rights of Human Rights Defenders.

RMDDH’s Launching in Cabo Delgado

After mapping the civil society organizations and individuals that are in the front line in the defence of human rights and official launches in Gaza, Tete, Nampula and Zambézia provinces, the Mozambique Human Rights Defenders Network (RMDDH) proceeded with the public launch of the initiative in Cabo Delgado province on 12 November 2021.
